LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 23, 2018) — Lexington funk, R&B and soul group Joslyn & The Sweet Compression have shared a video for their single “Honey, Be” ahead of their April 25 appearance on Red Barn Radio. The group’s guitarist Marty Charters, who co-wrote the song with vocalist Joslyn Hampton, had the following to say about the song:
“‘Honey, Be’ is the very first song we wrote together, and it was clear that we would “click” [writing] in that regard. It wasn’t one of those songs that are missing a little piece, and it comes to you later—everything came together at once and sort of wrote itself. That sort of defines our style in general. We cover a lot of ground, stylistically, but if someone who hadn’t heard us wanted to know what we sound like, that song might best explain us.”
Charters continued, “The character in ‘Honey, Be’ either legitimately has a hell of a lot to offer, or is a textbook narcissist.”
We’ll let you, the listener, decide that. View the video for “Honey, Be” below and catch Joslyn & The Sweet Compression in Lexington on Wednesday, April 25 on Red Barn Radio where they’ll perform and be interviewed by Big Blue Tunes’ Matt Wickstrom.
The video is directed by Lance Meaux and was recorded and mixed by Duane Lundy at Shangri-la Productions.
