LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 15, 2018) – New year, new venue, new season—no problem! Following a December announcement that Kentucky-grown festival The Moonshiner’s Ball would be uprooting (once again) from Irvine to Livingston, Ky., along with a move to the fall (in hopes of escaping Mother Nature’s wrath), organizers today announced the full festival lineup led by Brooklyn-based funk troupe Turkuaz, singer-songwriter James McMurtry and the return of bombastic brass group Moon Hooch.

After high energy sets at The Moonshiner’s Ball in 2015 and 2016 Moon Hooch is set to return in 2018.

Other nationally touring artists on the bill include the return of River Whyless to The Ball along with newcomers Southern Avenue, Birdcloud and Los Colognes. The festival’s local flavor is led by The Wooks, Joslyn & the Sweet Compression, Driftwood Gypsy, The Local Honeys, Magnolia Boulevard, Mark Charles Heidinger (of Vandaveer), Restless Leg String Band, 1200, Johnny Conqueroo, The Baja Yetis, Mama Said String Band, Madison Lewis, Jory Bowling, Senora May, Solid Rock’it Boosters, and Matt Fassass Trip to go along with festival hosts Blind Corn Liquor Pickers. Listen to a Spotify playlist composed of 2018 Moonshiner’s Ball artists below.

The new home of The Moonshiner’s Ball, Rockcastle Riverside in Rockcastle County, is a brand-new private festival venue, located on the Rockcastle River, in one of the most beautiful and secluded Appalachian valleys in Kentucky. The Rockcastle, running through the Daniel Boone National Forest, is designated a wild river, and is arguably the premier destination for paddlers and whitewater enthusiasts in the state.

The Moonshiner’s Ball was created by host band, The Blind Corn Liquor Pickers, to shine a spotlight on Kentucky artists, musicians, poets and activists, and to provide a gathering place for creative people of all ages to experience art, collaborate, network and dream.

Tune into Wick’s Picks on May 16 for guest appearances by Travis Young and Joel Serdenis of the Blind Corn Liquor Pickers and Moonshiner’s Ball to get the scoop on the festival’s 2018 lineup, Blind Corn’s latest recording project with Duane Lundy at Shangri-la Productions and much more.
