LOUISVILLE, Ky. (June 6, 2018) – The Second Annual PeteFest Music Festival will be held on Sept. 7th-9th, 2018 in Louisville, Ky. at Jones Fields Nature Preserve with the purpose of spreading awareness for suicide prevention and mental wellness while celebrating the community’s culture, art, music, food, craft beer, and enchanting outdoors.
Just 30 minutes from downtown Louisville, the festival is located in southeast Jefferson County near Turkey Run Park on a 90-acre nature preserve characterized by gently rolling hills, sprawling fields, and intimate woodlands.
PeteFest 2018 features more than 20 local and national acts, including Son Volt, Ben Sollee, JEFF The Brotherhood, The Pass, Mojoflo, and this year’s incarnation of the festival’s unfolding tradition – The Talking Heads’ 1984 live album, “Stop Making Sense”, performed in its entirety by Curio Key Club, featuring Bonnie Prince Billy, Cheyenne Mize, and Scott Carney.
In addition to three full days of music on two stages, PeteFest offers stunning campgrounds, food trucks, vendors, live muralists, wellness booths, cash bars, and activities for all ages such as morning yoga, guided meditation, pop-up games, face painting, and more. The concept for this year’s poster was designed by Elora Green, a 10th-grade student from Louisville, and the winner of the Pete Foundation’s youth poster competition held in February.
PeteFest keeps the focus toward its mission throughout the weekend. “Discover Sunday” is especially unique, featuring a lineup comprised entirely of younger, local musicians, providing the opportunity for our community’s youth to express themselves or send a message through their art. The organizers seek to provide a comfortable, safe space for all ages to explore open-mindedness, expression, and support for others. “Discover Sunday” artists include Madison Lewis, Anemic Royalty and more.
Tickets are on sale now at PeteFest.com with 100 percent of proceeds benefitting the Pete Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that aims to proactively address suicide by raising awareness and eliminating the stigma surrounding mental health at a very young age.
