LEXINGTON, Ky. – Joining host Matt Wickstrom this morning for Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio were John Ferguson and Kim Conlee of Big Fresh and Desperate Spirits, Donald Mason of The Lyric Theatre and Somerset musician Kevin Dalton. Listen to an archive of the show below.

First on the program (from 9-9:40 a.m.) were Ferguson and Conlee to discuss Big Fresh’s new EP Sweeps, which the group held a celebratory album release show for on Sunday, August 19 at The Burl. The trio discussed Sweeps, other projects under the Desperate Spirits umbrella, upcoming collaborations and more.

Following Ferguson and Conlee was Donald Mason, executive director at The Lyric Theatre to discuss the venue’s history, connection with the community in east Lexington and a variety of upcoming shows that include George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic on Thursday, August 23 and DeBraun Thomas on September 21.

Rounding out the 33rd episode of Wick’s Picks was Somerset’s Kevin Dalton. Dalton and Wickstrom discussed the musician’s musical roots, influences, background as a music educator, the impact his daughter has had on his music and outlook on life and much more.
