LEXINGTON, Ky. — This week two very contrasting female Eastern Kentucky singer-songwriters — Stanton, Ky.’s, Rachel Crowe and Irvine, Ky.’s, Senora May — joined host Matt Wickstrom for the final live episode of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio in 2018.

Kicking off the program was the bluesy and rangy Rachel Crowe. She and Wickstrom discussed her musical upbringing, the mindset of a blues artist, work as a wedding planner and Crowe’s recent nomination for the Tee Dee Young Best in Blues Award at the 5th annual Lexington Music Awards, among other topics. Crowe also performed two original songs live in studio, including one (she’s taking name suggestions on) that she debuted only a day prior at the Listen Locally open mic at The Twisted Cork.

For hour two Senora May joined the program. The two discussed Senora’s musical background, songwriting, being one with nature, her debut album Lainhart and much more in addition to the artist performing three songs live in the studio.

Listen to an archive of the episode below.

While Wick’s Picks won’t air live again until the new year, you can tune in at the normal time — 9-11 a.m. on Monday mornings — over the next two weeks to hear re-broadcast and special compilation episodes of Wick’s Picks.
