LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Burl has unveiled the lineup for it’s second annual On the Rail Roots Festival to be held Kentucky Derby weekend, May 3-5. The artist lineup features a strong mix of emerging local talent, out of town favorites and others new to The Burl stage including Jamestown Revival, Town Mountain, Jessica Lea Mayfield and Wayne Graham.

Other artists joining the bill are The Felice Brothers, Willie Watson, Paul Cauthen, Lera Lynn, Senora May, Ian Noe, Bendigo Fletcher, Nicholas Jamerson, Grayson Jenkins, Valley Maker, Luna & The Mountain Jets, and Abby Hamilton. Burl partner Will Harvey said that the vision for On the Rail has always been to provide a festival-like environment inside a traditional music venue, which he and his partners have upped the ante on in year two.

“We’ve always had grand ideas of a big festival at The Burl but after year one of On The Rail inside the venue we thought we had something unique,” said Harvey, who added “You didn’t have to camp, stand on boiling blacktop or fight in lines for showers, but you still got to see a solid lineup of artists. With that idea, we wanted to stretch ourselves out there and put the best lineup we could on one stage in one venue over multiple days. Now that we’re in year two, we’re excited to continue offering a Derby Weekend that has such a uniquely Lexington flavor. “

Daily lineups, schedules and tickets for the On the Rail Roots Festival will be available at 10 a.m. on Feb. 19. For more information follow the official event page on Facebook or go to theburlky.com.
