LEXINGTON, Ky. — This week the folks at Danville-based music podcast Kentucky Music Preview and Louisville-based southern roots and rock outfit The Whiskey Riders joined me for episode 58 of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.
After kicking off the program with music from Low Cut Connie, Them Vibes, Senora May and Maggie Lander – all artists you can catch live in town over the next week – Haley Perros and Dustin Wesley of Kentucky Music Preview joined the show. The duo discussed their March’s podcasts with indie rockers Lylak along with upcoming shows they’re helping to produce in Danville with Coby Langham & The Citizen Band on March 7 and in Nashville with Jason Sinkhorn, Senora May, Jericho Woods and others on March 15.
During the show’s second hour we welcomed Louisville-based southern rock ‘n roots outfit The Whiskey Riders. The group discussed their upcoming EP, the first since welcoming Alissa Mahon, Bryan “Brutal” Bass and Chase of Spades to the group in 2018. The band also discussed influences, songwriting, connecting with Mahon via a CraigsList ad, and much more. The group also previewed “Close Enough” and an upbeat cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” along with performing an acoustic version of original tune “Train Wreck,” which they dropped a video for on March 5 (view below). The three songs make up the band’s upcoming EP.
