LEXINGTON, Ky. — Dead Audio presents Expansion, Lexington’s only psychedelic rock festival, returns for its second annual gathering in 2019 featuring of this world artists such as DEAKIN (Animal Collective), The Bright Light Social Hour, Sugar Candy Mountain and Lasso Spells, among others. The event will take place at two of the city’s premiere music clubs—Cosmic Charlie’s on Sept. 13 and The Burl on Sept. 14.
Joining them will be Lexington standouts Sweet Country Meat Boys, Whammmoth, Seahags and more and more to be announced. Music will be accompanied throughout the weekend with visuals from analog liquid light artists Silver Cord Cinema (Nashville), projection-mapper Psensibil, and projection art from Dead A/V.
To help production costs, Dead Audio has started a Kickstarter campaign with unique rewards including signed records, your own signature drink and a signed copy “Floodgate Companion” by Robert Beatty, one of the the most sought after album cover designers in the world (Tame Impala, The Flaming Lips, Neon Indian, Real Estate, etc.).
Jared Lee started Dead Audio a few years ago to share the great music I was experiencing in Lexington and around the state. This will be Expansion’s second year at The Burl, which hosted the festival along with Al’s Bar—which has recently come under new management—in 2018.
