LEXINGTON, Ky. — This week Cody Penn and Elizabeth Frazier of The Ox-Eyed Daisies and Todd Clayton and Lyssa Halley of T.A. Clayton & The Soulminers joined me for episode 64 of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.

During the opening hour of the show Penn and Frazier of The Ox-Eyed Daisies joined the program to discuss their recent move from Columbus, Ohio to Lexington, balancing music and work with raising a child together, aspirations to expand to a full, electric band and much more. The duo also performed two songs, “Barn Owl” and “Bound to Be”, live in studio ahead of their show on April 19 at the new Abettor Brewing Company in Winchester.

In the 10 o’clock hour Clayton and Halley of T.A. Clayton & The Soulminers hopped on the show to discuss the band’s sound, which meets at the crossroads of Americana and southern jam rock; their forthcoming album Shortcomings (out April 19) and more. The duo also performed “Mama” live in studio in addition to hearing “Lucy” and “Buffalo” cut straight from the new album. The band will celebrate the release of the aforementioned album on April 19 with a show at Cosmic Charlie’s.

Other music heard throughout the show was “Quick” by Tank and The Bangas (April 18 at Manchester Music Hall), “Joyride” by Kung Fu (April 20 at Cosmic Charlie’s), and “Honeybee” by The Head and The Heart (April 21 at Manchester Music Hall). Find out more about those shows on this week’s live menu.
