LEXINGTON, Ky. — Acclaimed Kentucky singer-songwriter Tyler Childers will partner with RCA Records and his own Hickman Holler Records to release his sophomore studio effort Country Squire, out Aug. 2.

The announcement was made in a post to the artist’s social media channels following cryptic messages and hints in prior days. The reveal features a video in which an animated Childers smokes out of an antler pipe, leading to him hallucinating a collection of tripped-out creatures and characters before flashing the album’s release date across a black canvas.

View the video below.

In conjunction with the announcement Childers also unveiled the album’s first single, “House Fire.” Watch the official music video below.

Produced by Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson, the album was recorded at The Butcher Shoppe in Nashville and consists of nine new songs written by Childers. In addition to Childers (vocals, acoustic guitar), the album features a number of world-renowned musicians including Stuart Duncan (fiddle, mandolin, banjo), Miles Miller (drums, background vocals) and Russ Pahl (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, pedal steel, Jaw harp, baritone).

Of the mission behind the album, Childers comments, “I hope that people in the area that I grew up in find something they can relate to. I hope that I’m doing my people justice and I hope that maybe someone from somewhere else can get a glimpse of the life of a Kentucky boy.”

In addition to the album reveal, Childers also announced an extensive “Country Squire Run” headlining tour this fall including stops at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern, Brooklyn’s Brooklyn Steel (two nights) and Boston’s House of Blues, among others. The newly announced shows are in addition to a long run of shows through the summer that include stops in Louisville for Forecastle Festival on July 14 and Lexington for Railbird Festival on Aug. 12.

Coincidentally, Childers performed in Lexington in Aug. 2017 mere weeks after releasing his debut Purgatory at the Moontower Music Festival. I have a feeling the party will be kicked up a notch or two when he returns this August for Railbird. Only one way to find out (#NeverMissASundayShow)!
