LEXINGTON, Ky. — Earlier this week Greg McIntosh of local psych/prog rock trio Bandit Sun joined me for episode 74 of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio.
McIntosh joined me right from the top of the program to discuss everything from his musical background, which oddly enough began on guitar rather than the drums you can listen to him bang away on now; musical influences, Bandit Sun’s formation, songwriting, the recording process for the group’s debut album House Afire and much more. Throughout the interview we also previewed three tracks — “Tunnel of Waves,” “Let’s Go To Babylon” and “Right By You” — from the new album.
During the second half of the show I cranked up the volume on a handful of tunes from artists performing in town this week and month such as Joan Shelley, Bear Medicine and JEFF The Brotherhood along with new music from C2 & The Brothers Reed and Buck the Taxidermist, among others.
Listen to the entire musical playlist from episode 74 here along with an archive of the show below.
Join me again next Monday, July 15, from 9-11 a.m. for episode 75 of Wick’s Picks on Lexington Community Radio. I’ll be joined by local doom/sludge rock project Forrest the first hour to discuss their new album out July 17 followed by Jessica Crockett of the Master Musicians Festival in hour two to discuss the happenings at the event’s 26th annual gathering slated for July 19 and 20. Tune in on the dial at 93.9 FM or stream online at lexingtoncommunityradio.org.
