PREMIERE: Magnolia Boulevard reveal harmonious and heartfelt “Sister”

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Coinciding with the start of their run of shows supporting Blues Traveler, Lexington southern rock and blues outfit Magnolia Boulevard today share a refreshing take on their signature song “Sister,” which has become a song of communion for the tribe of witchy women (and others) who devoutly follow them, particularly lead vocalist Maggie Stanley.

The song was recorded at the home studio of Paul Reed Smith, founder and CEO of PRS Guitars, whom the band first crossed paths with during a performance at the 50th anniversary celebration of Willcutt Guitars in Lexington in May 2018.

“Sister” kicks off with a subtle psych twang and harmonious organ from Ryan Allen before Stanley steps in with an eerily commanding howl powerful enough to scale the band’s native Appalachian Mountains with ease before guitarist Gregg Erwin steps in with an instrumental fury of cosmic riffs drenched in raw emotion that join forces for a truly epic masterclass in musicianship rounded out by John Roberts (bass) and Todd Copeland (drums).

Listen to “Sister” below.

Magnolia Boulevard will return to Kentucky on their run with Blues Traveler when they visit Headliners Music Hall in Louisville on Nov. 8. The band will later return to Lexington on Dec. 13 for a pre-holiday show at The Burl followed by a visit to Prestonsburg, Ky. on Jan, 25, 2020.
