Hoot and holler for poetry

For the last eight and a half years Lexington’s literary community has hooted and hollered at Al’s Bar as part of their monthly Holler Poets Series, curated by local poet and conservationist Eric Scott Sutherland. The series, which first began as an outlet for Sutherland’s politically-charged poetry has blossomed into a jumping off point for many of the area’s most clever minds.

Gannon creates Soulful Space

For most people, 5 p.m. marks the end of a long, strenuous work day. For Shawn Gannon the day is just getting started. The jack-of-all-trades Gannon begins his days at Bluegrass Community and Technical College where he teaches welding and technology courses and ends with curating musical events and ensuring the artists involved feel right at home during their time on the road.
