Tumbleweed Festival has unveiled the first wave of its 2019 lineup, led by country music legends Alabama and Marshall Tucker Band, southern rock veterans Blackberry Smoke and up-and-coming Kentuckian Chelsea Nolan.
Blackberry Smoke is set to release their sixth studio album, “Find a Light,” on April 6 via Thirty Tigers, premiering the track “Flesh and Bone” today.
Blackberry Smoke will continue their extensive nationwide tour in 2018 including stops at New Orleans’ House of Blues (two shows), St. Louis’ The Pageant, Chattanooga’s Tivoli Theatre, Detroit’s Fillmore, Athens’ Georgia Theatre (two shows) and Glasgow, Ky.’s Plaza Theatre (two nights).
Since 1994 the Master Musicians Festival has brought marquee names to Somerset and the Lake Cumberland region including The Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show and Willie Nelson. This weekend’s 24th annual gathering boasted fan favorites Colter Wall, Old 97’s, Dawes and Blackberry Smoke on stage at Festival Field at Somerset Community College.
With nearly 17 years under their belts, the members of Blackberry Smoke have seen just about everything. According to guitarist Charlie Starr, even with everyone in the group being well into their forties, they still have fans throwing bras and panties at them on stage at shows. However, despite the craziness around them, Blackberry Smoke have been able to keep cool and stay true to themselves as so much in the world changes around them.
