Earlier this week Maggie Noelle, Gregg Erwin and Ryan Allen of Lexington rock/blues/soul/funk group Magnolia Bouklevard joined me in studio for Wick’s Picks to chat about the band’s upcoming one-year anniversary and accomplishments thus far; collaborations with Shaker Steps and Duane Lundy of Shangri-la Productions, summer plans and much more.
Listen to an archived broadcast of last week’s episode of Wick’s Picks with members of Restless Leg String Band along with a live menu that includes shows from Magnolia Boulevard, Mama Said String Band, Driftwood Gypsy, Blind Corn Liquor Pickers and others.
The Master Musicians Festival will celebrate 25 years of bringing musical excellence to rural Kentucky July 13-14 with performances from John Prine, Amanda Shires, JD McPherson and a slew of local Kentucky artists.
In its third year, Kickin’ it on the Creek, located a “Country mile” from downtown Irvine, Ky. May just be the best festival you’ve never heard about.
#WicksPicks includes songs from Magnolia Boulevard, C2 & The Brothers Reed, J Roddy Walston and The Business and more, along with the upcoming Kickin it on the Creek and live performances from Tee Dee Young, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The Band of Heathens and many more!
In the spring of 2016 Gregg Erwin moved to Lexington from Knoxville and began searching for like-minded musicians to perform with. Soon, he stumbled upon a songwriter’s night nestled within the beer garden at Al’s Bar and decided to go, though he went armed only with an electric guitar, and he didn’t sing.
